HOW OFTEN SHOULD I GET MY HAIRCUT?

This is a great question, it can be dependant on several variables. Your hair grows on average of 1/2 inch a month. This in itself can vary from person to person. If you are unwell, not eating a healthy diet or if its winter It can grow more slowly. Taking this into account and also the style and length of your hair (short hair will seem to lose its shape or get to heavy for the style quicker than long hair) I would recommend visiting your stylist between 4/8 weeks for a regular cut.

Is cheap shampoo ok for my hair?

To keep your hair at its best you should be using the best quality products you can afford. Preferably the professional products recommended by your stylist as they are in the best position to gauge your hair condition and to know what will be best. If we go back to some basics the hair is made up of a protein called Keratin which also forms our nails and skin and its outer layer is called the cuticle and is similar to overlapping fish scales. The hair itself is slightly acidic and ideally the products you use will be of the same PH level to keep the cuticle closed and the hair smooth this in turn will keep damage from brushing ect minimal and the hair will reflect light and give it a healthier sheen. Cheap shampoos contain a lot of silicon which will make the hair feel smooth but it only coats the hair and it also creates a build up or barrier on the hair. This can cause a lot of problems when it comes to colouring or perming your hair. So I strongly advise that alongside professional shampoo and conditioner recommended for you by your stylist you should also be using a regular heat protector, especially if you blow dry your hair and use heated styling tools.

K18

This is considered insurance for your hair. There is a mask you can use at home. I we definitely recommend having this added to your colour service. It is a molecular hair repair mask. in just 4 minutes using its patented peptides it can rebuild and replace the damaged bonds/chains with in the hair. Giving you stronger healthier hair. Think of it as dna for the hair filling in all the gaps that appear from chemical, physical and environmental damage.

WHAT IS BALAYAGE?

Balayage is a French word meaning to sweep. It is a freehand technique used to give the hair the appearance of being lightened naturally in the sun , this allows the colour to grow out very naturally without a noticeable regrowth line. It is a very low maintenance way of colouring the hair. It is one of my favourite ways to colour the hair which only needs topping up every 6 months or sometimes even longer but you may choose to have a toner applied during this time just to refresh the colour.

Is colour melting for me?

Colour melting it a seamless blend of two or more colours from root to ends. The roots are mostly the same base level as the natural hair and the hair will get lighter towards the ends. It can be also done with reds or other tones. It give a beautiful blended root look which can last making it a low maintenance colour choice which is very popular at the moment.

Toner or root smudge?

After you highlights, scalp bleach or balayage to lighten your hair you will most probably have another service to make your blonde even prettier. If you like a soft root you can have a root smudge with a slightly darker colour it will disguise any harsh lines of colour. If you have any underlying pigments in your hair you can have a toner to neutralize these giving you a brighter cleaner blonde. You can also use pigmented shampoos to keep you hair fresh between salon visits.

Traditional foiling techniques.

Traditional foiling is still very popular and gives great results , using one or several colours. We do have many different foiling patterns that we use depending on the finished look and the hair type. Foiling can also be done very very finely giving a baby light effect or if you prefer you can have a bolder effect with thicker weaves being used. You can also just do partial areas for quicker services.
